Accounts, connections, routes and billing
VPN41 FAQs
Find your issue by category, then follow the checks in the order listed. Subscription updates and app proxy settings are separate steps, as are plan data allowances and device limits.
No email address required · Unlimited devicesAccounts & subscriptions
Start with your account credentials, then check where to find and update your subscription and how it works across devices.
Do I need an email address to create an account? How should I store my account details?
No email address is required; create an account with a username and password. Save both in a trusted password manager rather than relying only on browser autofill. Never post your login details or subscription link in public forums. Before switching browsers or devices, make sure you can enter your credentials manually. If you have trouble accessing your account, use a device where you're still signed in to open the user dashboard and submit a support ticket with the exact message you see. Don't include your password, full subscription link or sensitive payment details in screenshots.
How do I update my subscription link? Do I need to choose a route again afterward?
Sign in to the user dashboard, check your subscription status, then open the subscription details to get your current link. In your client, find the imported subscription and use its update or refresh option. An update fetches the latest route information; don't paste a webpage URL as a node address. After updating, check that the route list loaded and that your previously selected route is still there. If its name or group has changed, select it again. If the update fails, make sure the link was copied in full and your network is connected, then get a fresh link from the dashboard. Avoid adding duplicate configurations repeatedly.
Do I need to buy another plan when I switch devices? Which platforms are supported?
There is no limit on the number of devices that can be online at the same time, so switching devices alone doesn't require buying another plan. Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and Linux are supported. On a new device, sign in to the user dashboard to get the client and subscription, then import the subscription. Unlimited devices and data allowance are separate policies; each device does not get its own separate plan allowance. Check usage in the account dashboard. When you stop using an old device, sign out and remove its local subscription configuration, especially on shared or temporary devices, so your account details aren't left accessible.
Where can I get the client and subscription? Can I share them with someone else?
Find client downloads in the user dashboard. Sign in to access your subscription. Android, Windows, macOS and Linux clients are available to download after signing in; you don't need to have purchased a plan. For iOS, follow the requirements shown in the dashboard. After installing the client, import your subscription as directed in the dashboard. A download link is not a subscription link. Your subscription link contains account authorization details, so protect it like a password; don't share it with strangers or post it publicly. To set up another device of your own, sign in to the dashboard on that device. Hide the link before sharing a screenshot for support.
Connections & troubleshooting
Troubleshoot in order: local network, client settings, then the target app. Avoid changing every setting at once.
The client says connected, but webpages won't load. What should I check first?
Disconnect the proxy first and make sure your local network can open everyday websites. Then connect to a route and test the target webpage again. A connected status usually means the client has established a connection; it doesn't guarantee that browser requests are going through that route. Next, check whether the system proxy is enabled, whether the current rules send the target site through the proxy, and whether another network tool is handling traffic. For testing, use just one proxy entry and temporarily disable duplicate browser proxy extensions. If regular websites work but the target site doesn't, note the exact error and continue troubleshooting based on the app or region involved.
Why does my browser use the proxy but a particular app doesn't?
Browsers and apps may use different network paths. A browser using the system proxy doesn't mean every app will use it; command-line tools, developer tools and built-in app networking may have separate settings. Check whether the app has its own proxy option, then review the client's per-app settings and whether the relevant rules match. If you're using virtual network adapter mode, follow the client instructions to check permissions and routing. Don't combine conflicting modes. After changing settings, quit and reopen the app, then test with an actual request. Also check the app's sign-in status, region requirements and whether the app itself is having an issue.
What should I do if a subscription update fails, the list is empty or route names haven't changed?
First check whether the subscription couldn't be fetched or whether it was fetched but the interface hasn't switched to the new configuration. Review the client's update message and configuration name, then check the subscription status and current link in the user dashboard. Copy the entire link without adding spaces, line breaks or punctuation from a chat app. If the link is correct but the update still fails, check your local network and the client's subscription update settings, and save the error text for your support ticket. Unchanged route names don't by themselves mean an update failed; check the update time and message. Don't delete every configuration just to refresh the list; save any settings that still work.
What should I do if the connection keeps dropping or stops working after my computer wakes from sleep?
Check whether disconnects happen after a network change, device sleep or the client moving to the background. To reconnect, connect to the current route again and make sure the system proxy or virtual network adapter status matches what the client shows. If needed, quit the client normally and restart it. On mobile devices, check system restrictions on background activity and battery use. On computers, make sure the network is ready after waking from sleep. During troubleshooting, keep the network, route and protocol unchanged where possible; changing several settings at once makes the cause harder to identify. If the issue persists, note when it happens, your system and client details, and the steps you've tried, then submit a support ticket.
Speed & routes
Check connection performance with the task itself: AI tools, streaming, international websites or remote work.
Webpages are slow and videos buffer at peak times. How can I tell whether to switch routes or check my local network?
Pause downloads and cloud sync that are using bandwidth, then check how your local network performs with the proxy disconnected. If local access is also noticeably slower, check your Wi-Fi signal, router and internet connection first. If only proxied traffic is slow, compare routes in the same target app without changing other settings. Peak-time slowdowns can involve congestion on shared links, packet loss or load on the target service, so client latency readings alone aren't enough to diagnose the issue. For streaming, check actual buffering and playback continuity; for work, check whether meetings and file transfers remain stable. After switching routes, reopen the target service so an existing connection doesn't affect your results.
Which regions are covered, and how should I choose a route for AI, streaming or remote work?
VPN41 covers 100+ countries / 180+ routes. The current selection is shown in the user dashboard and client subscription. Check the target service's regional requirements first, then compare actual performance rather than simply picking the nearest location. Test AI tools by signing in and checking for consistent responses; for streaming, check the regional catalog and play a title; for remote work, look for stable calls, collaboration and file transfers. Keep regional settings consistent with your environment when using international websites and e-commerce work accounts. A working route does not guarantee that your account, region or content permissions on the target platform meet its requirements.
What should I compare when choosing between IEPL dedicated lines, relay routes and protocols?
Route type describes the path traffic takes; protocol describes how the client and server establish and carry a connection. They aren't interchangeable. Differences between dedicated and relay routes depend on the actual path, your internet connection and time of use; the name alone doesn't tell you the speed. Protocol choice also depends on client support, how the network handles each transport method and your device's resources. Start with an available route that meets the target region's requirements, then compare protocol connection stability under the same task. Don't change the region, route and protocol all at once. For background on the trade-offs, see the routes and protocols pages. Available options depend on what's included in your subscription.
Why are AI responses or video playback slow even when latency looks low?
Latency measures the round-trip time for a particular probe. It isn't the same as download speed and doesn't represent the full request path used by an app. AI response times also depend on the target service, maintaining a long-lived connection and streaming data. Video playback depends on sustained throughput, the source and the platform's content delivery. Test within the target app, rule out local downloads using bandwidth, then compare the same task across routes. If only one service is slow, check its service status and account requirements too. When reporting an issue, say whether the initial load is slow, the transfer stays slow or the connection drops partway through; that's more useful than a latency screenshot alone.
Billing & refunds
Know the difference between monthly subscriptions and data packages. Check your order before making changes, paying or requesting a refund.
How much do monthly subscriptions and data packages cost, and when does data reset?
Monthly subscriptions: ¥9.9/month includes 60GB · ¥18/month includes 250GB · ¥28/month includes 500GB. Data resets monthly on the activation date. Data packages: ¥158/300GB · ¥358/1000GB · ¥658/3000GB. They last until used and never expire. Before choosing, distinguish monthly resets from use-until-depleted packages, then check usage in your dashboard. Streaming, file transfers and occasional browsing use data differently, so device count alone isn't a good estimate. Check your balance, status and order details in the user dashboard; use the plans page to compare prices and data allowances.
What happens if I upgrade my plan partway through? Does data reset at the start of each calendar month?
For a mid-cycle monthly subscription upgrade, the price difference is prorated to the remaining days. Data resets monthly on the activation date, not automatically at the start of each calendar month. Before upgrading, check your current plan status in the user dashboard and review the settlement details shown on the upgrade page. Don't estimate the account outcome by subtracting full-month prices, or apply the never-expire rule for data packages to monthly subscriptions. If the dashboard doesn't show what you expected, save the order details and page message, then use a support ticket to explain your current plan and the tier you'd like. Avoid creating duplicate orders for the same purpose until the issue is clear.
Which payment methods are supported? What should I do if my dashboard doesn't update after payment?
Alipay / WeChat Pay / USDT are supported. Before paying, open the relevant order from the user dashboard and check the plan, amount and order status, then follow the on-screen instructions. If the dashboard hasn't updated after payment, refresh the order list and make sure you're checking the right account and that the payment page confirmed completion. Don't pay again just because the status hasn't updated yet, and don't assume payment succeeded simply because you left the payment page. If you need help, submit a support ticket with the order ID, payment status and message you saw. Before sharing a payment screenshot, hide personal details that aren't relevant to troubleshooting. Don't post transaction information publicly.
How do I request a 30-day no-questions-asked refund? What should I include in a support ticket?
VPN41 offers a 30-day no-questions-asked refund. To request one, sign in to the user dashboard, open the support ticket section, state that you're requesting a refund and provide your order details so they can be verified. See the refund policy and terms of service for the full applicable rules; this page's instructions don't add any extra offer terms. Before submitting, make sure the account matches the paid order and describe the plan and status shown in the dashboard. If you're also having connection issues, you can include troubleshooting notes, but don't provide your password or full subscription link. Follow up in the same ticket to keep replies and progress tied to the order; duplicate requests can make that harder.
